32nd Brazilian Symposium on
Computer Networks and Distributed Systems

Florianopolis - Brazil, May 5-9, 2014
Tutorial - Microsoft Azure for Research

Microsoft Research and the Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems are pleased to announce a no-cost one-day hands-on technical training event for academic researchers interested in cloud computing using Microsoft Azure and a special request for proposals for the Brazilian research community.

Microsoft Azure is an open and flexible global cloud platform supporting any language, tool, and framework. It is ideally suited to meet the collaborative and computational needs of data-intensive research.

The Microsoft Azure4Research training will cover a variety of "hands-on labs" with programming examples predominantly in Python and Java. No prior experience of cloud computing or Microsoft Azure is expected. The only prerequisite is some programming experience. This one-day course is presented by specialized trainers and is aimed towards research faculty and students.

Attendees will be able to access Microsoft Azure on their own laptop during the training and do not need to have the Windows operating system installed – Microsoft Azure is accessed via an Internet browser.

Attendees will receive a 6-month Microsoft Azure pass with which they can experiment with, and develop their work using the cloud and will also learn more about receiving significant Microsoft Azure 12-month grants for their research through our program Azure4Research (http://www.azure4research.com).

We would appreciate if you could please forward the information to research faculty, post docs and graduate student researchers who would benefit from this training and program.

Date & Location:

The training will be held during the SBRC at the Oceania Convention Center, and there will be two opportunities: May 7 and May 9.

Please, check here to learn more about the schedule of upcoming training.
